Making of ‘Barschel in Bathtub’ (by Sebastian Knauer, 1987), 2020
The story behind the photograph…
The "Barschel" case is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular criminal cases in contemporary history and remains unresolved to this day. In 1987, Sebastian Knauer, a journalist from Der Spiegel, was engaged in researching the political inconsistencies of that time. He was also the one who discovered the deceased Uwe Barschel in the Beau Rivage hotel in Geneva. Knauer later presented crucial original documents from the investigative files to the public.
